Review of UK national newspapers for Saturday 14th February 2026

The Daily Mirror leads with a “ROYAL EXCLUSIVE” under the headline: “A stain on the family”, reporting “William’s fury at Andrew over Epstein revelations.” The paper says the Prince of Wales believes the controversy continues to damage the monarchy.

Similarly, the Daily Express carries: “WILLIAM’S CALL FOR ANDREW TO LEAVE ‘BEFORE THE ROT SET IN’”, referencing a new royal book and renewed scrutiny of the Duke of York.

The i Weekend also focuses on the Palace, with: “Andrew security officers may be questioned on women at Palace.” It reports that former royal protection officers could be interviewed in connection with inquiries into alleged links to Jeffrey Epstein.

The Daily Mail turns its attention to Labour peer Peter Mandelson, splashing: “MANDELSON’S ‘GHOST FLIGHTS’ ON OLIGARCH JET”, and reporting that a Russian billionaire flew the former EU trade commissioner to a summit with Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, the Financial Times Weekend leads on a corporate development connected to the same wider controversy. Its headline reads: “DP World boss quits over his Epstein links”, reporting the resignation of Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem amid political and business pressure.

Politics and international security are also prominent.

The Daily Telegraph headline says: “Election delays are wrong, says watchdog”, reporting that the Electoral Commission sees no justification for postponing votes for more than a year. It also carries the line: “Andrew leaked confidential Treasury briefing to banker friend.”

The Times leads with: “Reform will divide world, says Starmer”, reporting that the Prime Minister warns Nigel Farage’s party would make Britain less secure and more isolated internationally.

The Independent takes a strong geopolitical line with: “PM: We can’t rely on US – British security depends on Europe.” It reports Sir Keir Starmer urging closer cooperation with European allies.

The Guardian also focuses on the courts and protest law, with: “Palestine Action ban ruled unlawful in blow to ministers.” It says a High Court judge has ruled against the government’s proscription of the activist group.

Finally, the tabloids bring a mix of campaigning and celebrity.

The Daily Express [Red Top Middle Market printed in tabloid form] runs a secondary campaign headline: “RECOGNISE OUR HEROES WHO PUT ‘LIVES ON LINE’”, backing a medal for injured emergency workers.

The Star runs an “Exclusive’ ‘When the Stars talk, they talk to the Star- Race Ace Ruby: Cheltenham’s the best of Britain. Sports Legend’s Love for Festival on Valenine’s.”

And The Sun leads with a celebrity exclusive: “GORDON RAMSAY EXCLUSIVE – Don’t forget where you came from, Brooklyn”, reporting that the chef is acting as a peacemaker in the Beckham family.

Across the front pages this morning, the dominant themes are renewed scrutiny of Prince Andrew and his associations, political debate over Britain’s international direction, court rulings on protest law, and continuing fallout from links to Jeffrey Epstein in both royal and corporate spheres — alongside the weekend mix of campaigns, comment and celebrity coverage.

That is how the national papers are leading this Saturday morning.

Review of front pages of UK’s regional England, and nation Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland newspapers

We begin in Wales.

The Western Mail leads with a warning from the Conservative leader in Wales, under the headline: “Plaid will break it all, says Tory leader.” The paper reports claims that a stronger Plaid Cymru presence in Westminster could, in her words, “break” the Union.

Also in South Wales, the South Wales Echo splashes on a serious criminal case with: “RAPE ACCUSED WORKING AT HOSPITAL.” It reports that an alleged victim fears encountering the man during appointments.

Turning to Scotland.

The Scotsman leads with: “Dentists sued for failing to treat enough NHS patients.” It says the Scottish Government is attempting to claw back thousands of pounds in bursaries from dentists who did not meet NHS work thresholds.

The Daily Record focuses again on royal tensions, carrying the headline: “HEIR RAGE”, and reporting that Prince William labelled Prince Andrew a “stain on family” over Epstein links, according to a new book.

Meanwhile, The National leads with: “‘A VICTORY FOR FREEDOM’”, after a court ruling that the ban on Palestine Action was unlawful, though it notes the group remains proscribed ahead of an appeal.

And The Herald reports on concerns about online safety with: “Ministers urged to ban social media for under-16s.” It cites a report warning of harm to young people and calling for stronger protections.

In Northern Ireland, health pressures dominate the front page of The Irish News, which reports: “Ambulance waited outside ED for more than 19 hours.” The paper highlights long emergency department delays and the strain on hospital services.

The Belfast Telegraph leads on a political dispute with: “DUP man hits out at bonfire builders as row splits community.” It says a council decision to remove materials gathered ahead of Eleventh Night celebrations has caused division.

Across in northern England.

The Manchester Evening News carries a stark headline: “‘THEY WERE READY TO MURDER HUNDREDS’.” It reports that two men who plotted a mass attack targeting Jewish people in Manchester have been jailed for life.

And finally, the Yorkshire Post leads with: “Grieving parents ‘gaslit by Minister’.” It reports on families who lost babies in a hospital scandal and are urging the Prime Minister to intervene in an inquiry.

Across the regional front pages this morning, the themes include criminal justice and public safety, health service pressures, online protection for young people, political division over both constitutional questions and protest law, and continued scrutiny of public figures.

That is how the papers across the nations and regions are leading this Saturday.
